Service nearly refused due to underage looks in Doolin's Pub

Because of my looks, I'm easily mistaken for a 16 year old, but my actual age is 25. While visiting Doolin's the bartender refused to
serve me because I look underage. To show my proof of identity I showed him my school registration form as well as other documents
showing my date of birth. The bartender then apologized and asked me what do I like - some non-alcoholic beer. The beverage
didn't seem too bad at all, just ok. The fact remains that had I not shown any proof of identification he would not have served
me.

There are some bartenders who have doubts about their clientele if they have reason to believe that the patron in question looks to
be underage. In your case, it would seem to be rare, but it does happen.

The bartender was being cautious - had he served someone underage he would have been disciplined.

At least by showing your proof of identity the bartender can breathe a sigh of relief that you are of legal age. Nothing to worry
about. It would be a different story if he refused to serve you outright even after you've shown proof that you can drink.
