Music so loud you cant have conversation
Typically always top 40 music. Same songs repeated week after week
Some people go to get so inebriated, that they become obnoxious and totally change who they are.
It seems, in college and Wrigleyville at least, that people go to bars when they don't even want to, just to hook up with women/men and such or because all their friends went
The same 'kinds' of people are out whenever I go out. Usually somewhat fake.
At clubs, it's all about the money. Buying drinks for girls. Sheesh.

I'm different. I always found college bars to be a lot more civilized and classy than inner city bars.

Been for nights out in UK, Spain, Portugal and Germany and the mainstream places are just the same.
The trick is to find somewhere different that you enjoy, it's just like everything else use a little imagination.

Check out Guthries Tavern, I just love that bar because there is a shelf full of board games you can play and after the kitchen has closed you can order any take out food to the bar.

There's a place with nightly piano duels and a band that improvises requested songs called 'Howl At The Moon'. Usually a good time.
