Re: Atlanta! Where to live?

I'm 30 yrs old and married, no kids, have a dog.

We're moving to Atlanta and curious where we should be looking?
We'd like to rent a house but may rent an apartment for a while first while figuring out where we want to live.
We're coming from Charlotte and I'm going to be working in Alpharetta.
The reverse commute may be a good option as I'm used to a 15 minute commute and hate traffic.
Thanks for the help!

Re: Atlanta! Where to live?

Uh, you're not gonna find a reverse commute or a 15 minute one in that part of town - work wise.
Brookhaven, Dunwoody/Sandy Springs or Chamblee might work for a house rental- try Craig's List- but traffic on 400 SUCKS and not just in "reverse."
So if that's your biggest requirement then you need to live in Alpharetta. More specifics and maybe we can help!

Re: Atlanta! Where to live?

I commute 26 miles one way from Midtown for work. Traffic is bad, but it's worth my sanity.
It may not be a big deal for you, but living in the city center is important to me.
Yes I drive a long distance to work, but when I get home on Friday I can park my car and get around fine without it.
All depends on your priorities in that respect. Convenience to work, or convenience to a decent urban existence.

If you can't handle too much of a commute, then I think Roswell would be a good option.
It's relatively young and hip, particularly for the burbs.
There's a downtown area with lots of good restaurants and bars, good parks along the river, and fun community events.
