How do yall find out about music and stuff to do in Chicago?

Moving to Chicago very soon, and I'm wondering what people use to find out what to do on the weekends.
How do you find out about new bars, restaurants, concerts and the other things you like to do? Websites, publications, just word of mouth?

Try Chicago Reader and Metromix. Probably more up to date on what's happenin than me. Lol.

The Reader is incredibly comprehensive. Also, most venues have twitter accounts you should follow.

In addition to what's mentioned, there is a free paper given away called the Red Eye.
It has a few gems worth reading:
Daily drink/food specials Newly opened restaurants, bars, music, maybe art (but not much) A crossword you can finish on your way to work (under 20 minutes)

Timeout Chicago is pretty good with seasonal things, as well as up and coming venues.
