Best neighberhood for nightlife in Philly?

My wife and I are celebrating our wedding anniversary in Philly this weekend, and I was looking for some advice.
We are staying at the Palomar (Rittenhouse Square) and a have a bunch of activities planned (thank to the sidebar).
My only question is, what are good areas to hang out at, in the evening, that have a bunch of different places we can hop to?

I like the bars near 13th and Sansom (Corner, Time, Sampan, Bar, etc).
They have a great crowd of late 20s early 30s young professional types, and aren't too disastrously expensive like their counterparts near Rittenhouse.

Upvote for Time. I love that place! Even better is that this Friday Ernest Stuart is playing.
He's easily the best act I've ever seen play there.
He is an amazing jazz trombonist that throws in a little rap every now and then.

If you are staying in Rittenhouse I'd stay in that area. It's probably the densest area of restaurants and bars in the city.
There are a few cool bars in Fishtown but not worth leaving downtown for when you are just in Philly for the night.

If you wander into South Philly, The Royal Tavern has a great beer selection and has one of my all time favorite burgers.
EVER! It's about ten minutes south of South Street, maybe a 40 minute walk from Rittenhouse.
