Re: What's one thing you love/hate about Philly?

I'll start! The people, they're outgoing, passionate, and like to talk!
Let's see, I hate the smoking. Highest smoking rate of any city in the U.S. I feel like I can't breath at times here.

I love Hidden gems around every bend. random statues, 5 ft wide streets, hole in the wall bookstores, odd memorial parks, murals. The things I love here I never seek out but rather stumble upon them. I hate the Garbage problem here...No public trash cans. No alleys. People don't even use garbage cans outside their homes. Nasty trash bags just laying on the sidewalk. So unhealthy. Everybody here has a story about a mouse or bugs in their house. No big surprise.

No green. Yes, there are many neighborhoods without an ounce of green, but Fairmount park is just incredible. And, even the weeds on the side of the road in Philly are impressive in their jungle like qualities.
Hate the ugly housing...From the outside, the houses are historic and charming. The insides always look like the "before" picture from an HGTV show. Horrible carpeting, cheap 70s and 80s redos.

Day trips are cool! Mountains, ocean, NYC, fancy homes owned by dead DuPonts.
Damn, tiny downtown here though. Knowing why there are only 7 tall buildings here does not make it any better. Philly is the 5th largest city in the country but the downtown looks like you could be in Topeka.

Love the water ice. Vanilla. Pop's. Addiction.
Not fond of the ridiculously low property tax. Much wonder the fire trucks and ambulances looks oh so retro and there is crappy trash pick up. The property taxes are too stupidly low here. You get what you pay for.
