When it comes to hostel culture in the United States don’t expect to find the same atmosphere that you may experience in other places, say like European Backpackers Bars, or even Canadian Backpackers Bars.

The social aspect tends to be a little more reserved and the rules can be a little stricter, since believe it or not many US hostels are dry hostels! I know, crazy right? Even though the US hostel scene may be lacking the friendly open traveler culture right now, according to this recent article in the Wall Street Journal things are about to change.

That being said, there still are plenty of party hostels in the US, that is if you know where to look for them. To help you with your search we’ve put together a list of five of our favorites for the Best Backpackers Bars In The United States:

San Francisco International Hostel
140 Mason Street, San Francisco, California

It’s cheap. It’s a bit run down, but hey, it is a hostel after all. When staying in a cheap hostel there are some things you have to get used to, but as a seasoned traveller you probably already know what I am talking about. We’ll leave the reviews for the accommodations for other websites. What makes the San Francisco International Hostel a great party hostel is, wait for it… free beer! That’s right, every single night of the week they open up the bar to their guests. Add some free beer, mix in an in house club with a sprinkle of travellers and you’ve got yourself a recipe for a party.

Bikini Hostel
1247 West Avenue, Miami Beach, Miami, Florida

The Bikini Hostel in Miami Beach is billed as a boutique hostel. With a party atmosphere that includes everything from free BBQ’s and pizza nights, to poolside and Jacuzzi parties, it is no wonder that this is one of the best party hostels in all of Miami. It’s close to the beach and everything South Beach has to offer, so when the onsite party is just not enough, which rarely happens, staff will always have an outing planned to keep the party going well into the wee hours of the morning.

AWA Seattle Hostel
4000 University Way Northeast, Seattle, Washington

If you are looking for a party hostel in Washington than look no further than the AWA Seattle Hostel on University Way. As the location implies, this party hostel is located in the University District, and if that doesn’t make it a party atmosphere enough their Top Quality bar located right on site will.

Backpackers Hostel & Pub
13 School Street, Boston, Massachusetts

If you are looking for a more refined party hostel, one that isn’t over-crowed or too loud, well then Boston’s Backpackers Hostel & Pub is the place for you. Located in a quite area of Boston, there are many great, not to mention cheap, places to find a bite to eat or a pint to drink. But hey, it’s a Hostel AND Pub, so if you are looking for the laid back party, good news, you don’t even have to leave the building.

Equity Point New York @ Times Square
206 West 41st Street, New York, New York, USA

Located right in the heart of Manhattan, at Times Square, is New York’s best party hostel, Equity Point New York @ Times Square. Not only are they located smack right in the middle of everything that is New York City, but this hostel also has a great onsite bar called Bar Catalonia. And best of all, Bar Catalonia is also open to the public, which is always a good sign of a great place to party.

It’s that time of year again, and no I don’t mean holiday shopping, even though it seems like you can’t escape those seasonal jingles… no matter how hard you try. No, I’m talking about something better, something more exciting. I’m talking about planning your New Year’s Eve destination.

Where do you want to be when the clock strikes midnight this December 31st? Hopefully it will be somewhere more exciting than in front of the television or at the local pub down the street. It will be 2014, after all.

So whether it’s watching the ball drop in Times Square or being the first to ring in the New Year Down Under, we have compiled a list of the top five Best Places To Celebrate New Year’s.

New York City, New York – Times Square

When you mention the best place to spend New Year’s Eve without a doubt the number one place that comes to mind is Times Square in New York City. With the iconic ball drop, a tradition that dates back to 1907, and the amazing pyrotechnic lightshow, the Times Square New Year’s Eve celebrations are one party that everyone needs to attend at least once in their life. Sure the Square is jammed packed with people and public washrooms are limited, but counting down to the new year with a million other party goers is an unreal experience that needs to be experienced to be believed. The square is usually packed by 3pm and definitely fills up by 11pm, so get there early to get a good spot.

Tokyo, Japan – Shibuya

If you are looking for the Times Square equivalent of a New Year’s Eve celebration in Tokyo then look no further than the heart of the entertainment district, Shibuya. The celebration kicks off just outside the train station, and New Year’s Eve is the one day of the year where public transit runs all day long. The best part of counting down to the New Year in Shibuya is that after you steal that New Year’s kiss you’ll have a multitude of bars and clubs to party in, many within walking distance. If you are looking for something more traditional, head over to Meiji Jingu where local Tokyo residents release thousands of balloons to mark the New Year.

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil – Copacabana Beach

If you are looking to escape the cold of a New Year’s Eve celebration and heat up the party then Rio de Janeiro is the place to do it. Sure Brazil’s party capital may be most famous for Carnival, but its second best party event happens on the 4-kilometre stretch of sand known as Copacabana beach. Locally known as Reveillon, this New Year’s Eve beach party is an all-day event that over two million people attend. With several musical stages, dancing, and a 15-minute firework display, this is one New Year’s Eve party that should be on everyone’s bucket list.

Paris, France – Champs-Elysees

The City of Light lives true to its name come New Year’s Eve. If you are looking for the best street party than look no further than Champs-Elysees in Paris, France. Thousands of Parisians take in the celebrations, partying up and down Champs-Elysees, drinking France’s popular export, Champagne, and awaiting the magical moment when the iconic Eiffel Tower becomes the centrepiece of the New Year’s Eve fireworks display. And remember, there is no better place to be than in the City of Love when looking for that special someone to share a New Year’s kiss.

Sydney, Australia – Sydney Harbour

Another hot party place to ring in the New Year is the Sydney Harbour in Sydney, Australia. As one of the first cities to do so each year you have to bet that their New Year’s Eve celebrations are always the biggest, the most flashy and downright the best New Year’s Eve parties around. The party gets started at 1pm and goes into the wee hours of the New Year. So if you want to be the first to ring in the New Year this December 31st, then you better get yourself Down Under.

Whether you consider yourself a traveler or a tourist, if your travel plans take you anywhere through Europe a stop a backpacker’s local watering hole along the way is a must. Not only are the drinks usually pretty cheap, backpackers do after all have a limited budget, but they are also typically packed with open-minded travelers. As a traveler, maybe you will find some ideas for the next leg of your journey. As a tourist, the backpackers can provide you with some tips on how to stay away from the local tourist traps.

You may already be familiar with our Top 18 Party Cities In Europe list, today however we are going to focus on our picks for five of the Best Backpacker Bars In Europe.

What are some of your picks for Best Backpacker Bars In Europe? Let us know your thoughts, either in the comment section below, or better still, by posting a review for your favourite backpacker bar in the appropriate city section. For example, here is the page for Amsterdam. For every review you provide we will enter your name into a draw for a chance to win something from us * (See below for more details).

So without further adieu, here are the BarWhiz picks for the Best Backpacker Bars In Europe:

Czech Inn – Prague, Czech Republic

The Czech Inn is located just short tram ride away from the downtown area of Prague, which makes it both a great hostel, i.e. you are away from all the tourist traps, and a fun backpacker bar for both the pre and post party. Happy hour starts every night at 6 p.m., but the bar opens every morning at 8 a.m., and with the cheap prices happy hour is really whenever you want it. The bar is located in the basement of the hostel and is open to everyone. With four great Czech beers on tap, even locals go to the Czech Inn bar to enjoy a pint or two.

Euro Youth Hotel – Munich, Germany

The Euro Bar at the Euro Youth Hotel is by far the most popular backpacker bar in all of Munich. Serving up some of the best beer and cheapest cocktails – especially during happy hour, which ironically enough lasts three hours (from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. every night) – the Euro bar is known for their theme nights and bringing in some of the best bands and DJs. The Euro Bar is a great place to party in Munich, even if you are not staying at the hostel.

The Flying Pig – Amsterdam, Netherlands

Europe’s sin city, Amsterdam, is a non-stop party town. There is so much to see and do in this city that even though you may only find yourself returning to your hostel to sleep, it is good to know that if you want to keep the party going, whatever your vice is, the Flying Pig is there to help. With two hostels located in the city centre, and a breach hostel in Noordwijk, The hostel’s Pig Bars are the best place in town to have a drink at the bar or a smoke on the pillow stage. Don’t miss out on the chance to have an unforgettable party at this amazing chain of backpacker bars.

Kabul – Barcelona, Spain

Smack in the middle of the Plaça Reial in Barcelona, Spain is one of the best backpacker bars in all of Europe. Located on the second floor of the Kabul hostel, this late night party spot even draws in the crowds that don’t start moving until 2 a.m. When we talk about best backpacker bars in Europe, this is the place to be. Partying at Kabul is one thing, staying at the hostel is a completely different thing. The hostel is definitely not for everyone, but if you are looking for good times and meeting like-minded people you should definitely party here.

The Pink Palace – Corfu, Greece

If you are looking for a good night’s rest, well The Pink Palace is not the place for you. If you are however looking for an awesome party hostel with their very own 24 hour access bar and night club, called Palladium, the Pink Palace is the place to be. Located on the island of Corfu, Greece, this hostel not only has an in house backpacker bar and nightclub, but they also plan various party events, such as their famous toga parties as well the weekly booze cruise, which takes you around the western coast of the island for some amazing scenery and great fun, returning you back to the bar just in time for happy hour.

* We will order for you your favorite drink to your address up to a value of 100$ if you win the draw, you will need to have your email updated in your account so we can contact you.

It’s time for another BarWhiz Blog Best of list. Today we are going to focus on the 5 Best Bars in Montréal, or rather, I should say My top 5 favourites bars I like to visit when in Montréal… but that title seemed a little long to me.

In any case, whether you agree, or we agree to disagree, we want to here from you. What do you like or dislike about the bars on this list? What are some of your favourites? We want you to let us know by reviewing any of these bars found on our Best Bars In Montréal list, or any Montréal bars for that matter, here on the Montréal page.

As a bonus for taking time out of your day to review your favourite bar we will enter your name in a draw for a chance to win something special from us, say like your favourite drink * (See below for more details).

So without further adieu, here are the BarWhiz picks for the Best Bars In Montréal:

#1 Notre Dame des Quilles
32 rue Beaubien est, Montréal, Quebec

Located in Montréal’s Little Italy, or Petit Patrie as the locals may refer to it, is one of the best dive bars in the city. Loosely translated to Our Lady of Bowling, Notre Dame des Quilles comes complete with everything you’d expect from a dive bar, from battered diner furniture to linoleum floors, and as the name suggests, two bowling lanes (nothing automatic here though, you will have to set your own pins). Even though the drinks are cheap and the atmosphere is dive chic, the food is surprising good.

Add your own review here.

#2 Casa del Popolo
4873 boul. St-Laurent, Montréal, Quebec

If you are looking for another bar that will be light on the wallet, look no further than the cornerstone of the Montréal indie music scene, Casa del Popolo. With a comfortable and unimposing atmosphere, Casa del Popolo serves up some great drinks, and surprisingly tasty food, for a place that is billed as small music venue. It can get pretty crowded, not to mention loud, at night, so if you want to get a good spot make sure you get there early.

Add your own review here.

#3 Sparrow
5322 boul. St-Laurent, Montréal, Quebec

The Sparrow is probably the closest you will get to real authentic pub food outside of the UK. For any of the foodies out there, some people have described this place as a British Gastropub. Apparently that means high-quality pub food with an Indian twist, just like in Jolly old England. I go for the drinks, which they provide a great selection of on tap and bottled beers as well as a simple cocktail list (with probably one of the best Old Fashions in the city), so I couldn’t really tell you about the food. As far as ambiance goes, the Sparrow is a cross between a pub and a lounge, with candlelit tables and shared couch spaces. I have yet to make it back in the morning, but from what others have told me they, they also do a pretty amazing brunch.

Add your own review here.

#4 Vices et Versa
6631 boul. St-Laurent, Montréal, Quebec

If you are looking for one of the best brewpubs in Montréal, then look no further than Vices et Versa. This quaint little pub has more than 20 local microbrews on tap on any given day, and they even serve some of their own delicious brews. The service is great, the beer is very reasonably priced, and their food menu isn’t half bad either. In the warmer months they also have a great terrace outside surrounded by greenery where you can enjoy one of your favourite microbrews outside in the sunshine.

Add your own review here.

#5 Foufounes Électriques
87 Saint-Catherine est, Montréal, Quebec

No list of best bars in Montréal, (or in my opinion, a great night out) would be complete without a trip down Saint-Catherine to Montréal’s grungiest club (and no, I do not mean Club Supersexe). Spinning tracks from alternative to punk to metal, and everything that goes along with being hard-core is Montréal’s premier rock club, Foufounes Électriques. Loosley translated to Electric Ass (and in fact, ‘foufounes’ is a word you would likely use in front of a child, so it is more like Electric ‘bum-bum’), Foufounes Électriques has that grungy feel that almost makes you afraid to step inside. But don’t worry, the vibe is very chill, so grab a cheap drink (it’s even cheaper if you pay the cover to go upstairs), shoot some pool, or test out your French language pick-up skills on the local talent: “Vous avez une bell foufoune.” – Hey, you might even get points for being cute. (Caveat: There is a difference between Parisian and Quebecois French, especially when it comes to slang, so it is recommended to avoid using that particular pickup line in say, Paris.)

Add your own review for Foufounes Électriques.

* We will order for you your favourite drink to your address up to a value of 100$ if you win the draw, you will need to have your email updated in your account so we can contact you.

Once again we will be focusing our next best of list on a few picks for our best party cities in Europe series. Today it’s all about Italy.

We would like you to take a look at our 5 picks for the best party cities in Italy and let us know what you think. What are some of the hidden gems that we may have missed? Where is your favourite place to party in Italy? If you provide us with a review on the city page found here, we will enter your name into a draw for a chance to win a round of your favourite drinks, on us! * (See below for more details).

So without further adieu, here are the BarWhiz picks for the Best Party Cities In Italy:

Florence

Although for some, when you mention Florence, the last thing that comes to mind is a party town. No, many people immediately think about the Renaissance art and architecture that the city has to offer. From the Medici palaces to the beautiful gardens, Florence is definitely a tourist hotspot, but it is also a party town. Home to a large population of students, the Florence nightlife has much to offer. Most bars and clubs stay open until three in the morning, which is very late by Italian standards. One of the hottest nightclubs to check out while in Florence is without a doubt Club Tenax (pictured above).

Rimini & Riccione

Now I know this is kind of a twofer, but because of the close proximity of Rimini and Riccione we had to just combine them together. If you want to party like the Italians do, especially in the summer, then head to the beach and take in some sun, some sand, and some of the most amazing beach clubs Europe has to offer. Most parties last well into the wee hours of the morning and even when the open-air clubs decide to shut it down, the party usually continues right there on the beach, creating a surreal, everlasting party.

Rome

Even though home to the Vatican, Rome can still offer up some sinful pleasures with its vast array of nightlife. They party here is not going to be as wild as the beach clubs you’ll find in Rimini and Riccione, but the Eternal City is still a must stop party city when travelling through Italy. As the saying goes, ‘When in Rome…’, so to really experience Rome as the Italians do you will need to start your night off by enjoying a few drinks in the many outdoor bars scattered throughout the city. After you have had your fill of people watching, the national sport by the way, head over to the main streets of Monte Testaccio and surrounding areas where you will find some of the best clubs the city has to offer. Just remember, many of the clubs shut down during the summer in the inner cities. Why you ask? Well because Italians spend their summer near the sea, partying it up in places like Rimini and Riccione, and the next party city on our list, Sardinia.

Sardinia

If you are looking to party with the cream of the crop, both in what Italy has to offer as well as the rest of the world’s glitterati then look no further than the island of Sardinia. From legen – wait for it… dary beaches, with the parties that go along with it, to some of the hottest clubs Italy has to offer, the island of Sardinia is definitely one of the best party cities in Italy. It can be expensive, but well worth it.

Venice

Finally, we finish off our list of best party cities in Italy with one of country’s architectural masterpieces, Venice. From stunning architecture and over 40 kilometres of canals, Venice is more than just a city of romance; it can also be a pretty great party town, that is of course if you know where to look. Two of the best areas in Venice to find clubs and bars are Mestre, just a short ride over the bridge, or the Lido, which can be reached by a quick boat ride. Both areas offer an abundance of clubs, ranging from swanky to totally unpretentious, and is your best chance to find some of that Venice romance of your own.

* We will order for you your favorite drink to your address up to a value of 100$ if you win the draw, you will need to have your email updated in your account so we can contact you.

With its renowned nightlife, Ireland attracts people from all over the world to their cosy traditional pubs, modern nightclubs and annual music festivals. Continuing with our Top Party Cities In Europe series, today we will be focusing on the best party cities in Ireland.

We have chosen our top 5 picks when it comes to best party cities in Ireland, but we don’t want to just tell you what we think, we want to hear from you too. Let us know about your favourite pub or club by writing a review here and we’ll enter your name into a draw to win something special, like a round of pints on us. * (See below for more details).

So without further adieu, here are the BarWhiz picks for the Best Party Cities In Ireland:

Dublin

Dublin is home to a young demographic who works hard and plays even harder. With all that disposable income at hand, Dublin has become one of the most notable cities when it comes to the nightlife scene in all of Europe. With a pub on every corner and some of the best nightclubs around, Dublin is by far the best party city in Ireland. Some party recommendations include Sweeney’s Bar on Dame Street, Whelan’s on Wexford Street, The Grand Social on Lower Liffey Street, and O’Reilly’s on Poolbeg Street.

Cork

Cork is home to a large student population, and whenever you get a large group of students together you can always find a party. Whether it’s at the local pub, club or house party, there are always some kind of events on all year round with many catering to a wide selection of music genres, including traditional Irish music. One of the most popular pubs to check out is The Oval on South Main Street, and don’t miss out on Cork’s longest running nightclub, Havana Brown’s.

Kilkenny

A little something for everyone, Kilkenny offers a mix of modern clubs, stylish bars, and traditional old style pubs. Sure, it may be over 400 years old and contain some of the best medieval cathedrals and castles, but it’s still a party town. A great place to begin your night is Matt The Millers on John Street Lower before finishing it off on the dance floor at Lanigan’s Bar on Rose Inn Street.

Galway

Another student town, and therefore a great party city, is Galway. This university town has a reputation for it’s amazing pubs, clubs, and festivals. There is always something to do here and is quite easy to find a party that will meet everyone’s tastes. A great place to start your night off is at The King’s Head on High Street, but for the best selection of nightlife head over to the Eyer Square.

Belfast

Belfast is known for its winning hospitality and thriving cultural scene, making it one of the top five Best Party Cities In Ireland. The people here are charming and welcoming, so much so that if you play your cards right you may even be invited to one of their famous ‘late night / early morning drinking parties’. To get your night started, head on over to Lavery’s Bar on Bradbury Place for a few pre-game pints.

* We will order for you your favorite drink to your address up to a value of 100$ if you win the draw, you will need to have your email updated in your account so we can contact you.

In the summer of 2012, we put together a list of the Top 19 Party Cities In Canada. Coming in at #2 on our list was Toronto, Ontario.

Toronto is the largest city in Canada and known for it’s iconic CN Tower, which held the title as the tallest freestanding structure for just over 30 years, that was until the completion of the Burj Khalifa in Dubai in 2007. Even though the city may have lost its world title for tallest buildings, it still keeps its cool with being one of the most diverse and best party cities in Canada.

At BarWhiz we are all about building a community. Not only do we try to provide you with tips for the best party places, but we also have an extensive list of members who review specific cities, bars, clubs, etc. right on our website. We understand that every one is entitled to their own opinion, so whether you agree with this list or not, we would really appreciate if you take the time to review your favourite Toronto bars. To show you how much we really appreciate your input, we will enter you into a draw for a chance to win something special from us, your favorite drink *.

So without further adieu, here are the BarWhiz picks for the Best Bars In Toronto:

Annex Wreck Room

Located near the University of Toronto is the Annex. This neighborhood has long been home to both students and faculty of the university. With the influx of students, many great bars and clubs have opened in the area, and our favourite is the Annex Wreck Room. Located on Bathhurst in one of the more lively areas of Toronto, the Wreck Room is a non-stop party, with live rock shows and funky dance music on any given night. Like many great places in Toronto, it can get packed, so arrive early enough to make sure you get a spot on the dance floor.

Bar Volo

Located on the iconic Yonge St., just South of Bloor West, you will find Bar Volo, which has been an institution for all things beer for over 20 years. With a huge selection of international bottles, craft beers and their own concoctions from the onsite microbrewery, Bar Volo is one of the best places to grab a great tasting beer in all of Toronto.

Ceili Cottage

Owner Patrick McMurray turned a rundown auto shop on Queen Street East into one of the best Irish pubs in all of Toronto. Ceili Cottage is not your typical Toronto Irish Pub, you won’t find any bottled beer here, only draft. The Ceili Cottage also has a great patio that is open all year round. In the winter the patio area is converted into a skating rink and there is even a yurt where you can go warm up with a cold one.

Crocodile Rock

Located on Adelaide, just west of University, is one of the best multi-story clubs in the city. What makes Crocodile Rock better than most of places in the club district is the lax dress code, the relatively inexpensive drinks (there’s always a special on every day of the week), the rooftop patio, the pool tables, and finally, it’s a great place to go cougar hunting.

Crush Wine Bar

If you are looking for a great wine bar in Toronto, then head on over to King West and Spadina to take in all that is the Crush Wine Bar. They offer specials, flights, great food and best of all, they have a pretty decent patio where you can sit back and enjoy some fine wine with friends.

Parts and Labour

Located at the far end of Queen Street West, just seven blocks from Dufferin is the hardware store turned resto-bar. If you are looking for a great hipster hangout in Parkdale, with amazing cocktails and food to make then look no further than Parts and Labour.

Swirl Wine Bar

If you are looking for a great wine bar in the east end, head on down to Queen East and check out the Swirl Wine Bar. Granted, with décor that is in pink and blacks, Swirl if definitely a girls night out type of place, but the wine selection is excellent and the food is delicious.

The Dakota Tavern

Located in a small, dark basement is the Dakota Tavern. If you are looking to have a few drinks and enjoy some live bluegrass and country music, then this is the best bar in Toronto to do just that. You can find this gem near the corner of Ossington and Dundas West.

The Thompson Rooftop

If you are looking to enjoy a cocktail, albeit a relatively expensive one, with a great view, then go no further than the Thompson Rooftop lounge. Located Wellington St. West, this rooftop bar is open all year long and boasts one of the best views of the city. Even though they have upscale cocktails and a rooftop swimming pool their food menu follows a more pub style route, but hey, you came for the view not the food right?

Thirsty & Miserable

Located in the historic Kensington Market is the dive chic Thirsty & Miserable. Although they are going for the dive feel, with their black and red colour scheme and microwaveable meals, their selection of craft beers far exceeds any brewpub in the city. However, owner Katie G. Warror, guitarist of the hard-core band Brutal Knights, has no problem with you bringing your own snacks, if you so desire. But really, who doesn’t enjoy a Hungry-Man meal? It does complement a craft IPA oh so well.

* We will order for you your facorite drink to your address up to a value of 100$ if you win the draw, you will need to have your email updated in your account so we can contact you

In our best party cities series we are slowly making our way through the North American Continent. First we gave you our picks for the best party cities in Canada. Then we provided you with our choices of the top 21 party cities in the USA. Today we will head further south and let you know all about our 5 favourite Mexican party cities.

We’d also like to give a little something back to the BarWhiz community. So if you have ever partied in any of these cities in Mexico, or any others we may have missed, why not post a review here and you might just win a little something from us, say like your favorite drink.

So without further adieu, here are the BarWhiz picks for the Best Party Cities In Mexico:

Tijuana

It’s dangerous. It’s sexy. It’s a non-stop party town. Yes I’m talking about Tijuana. With a population closing in on 2 million people, Tijuana really is the Mexican city that never sleeps. There seems to be more bars and nightclubs here than any other city in Mexico. As a border town, there is a huge influx of American tourists coming in from California to party for a night in the almost anything goes city. From the great prices on drinks, to the great food, this party town seems to have a culture all of its own. It’s definitely Mexican, but darker and more exciting.

Cabo San Lucas

Head south to the tip of the Baja peninsula for party central, Cabo San Lucas. People from all over the world venture to this Mexican city to party all day and all night. Granted the peak time for the best party action is during spring break, but there is still much to be had anytime of the year in Cabo. From all night beach parties, to happy hours that run from noon to 7pm, you won’t need to look too hard to have a good time.

Puerto Vallarta

Next we’ll head to a resort city that is situated on the shores of the Pacific Ocean, that’s right, our next party city is Puerto Vallarta. This Mexican party city has become such a popular vacation spot that the city itself is expanding faster than regular visitors, and even locals, can keep up with. Although the downside to more party people venturing into the city may be increased prices and more packed clubs, the upside is the ultimate party atmosphere. Clubs typically stay open well beyond their official 4 a.m. last call, and new cantinas and dance clubs are opening up all the time. Go to Puerto Vallarta for the beaches, but stay for the party.

Mexico City

Now we’ll head further inland, away from the sandy beaches of the Pacific, and into the heart of Mexico. The next Mexican party destination is none other than Mexico City. From the Centro Histórico downtown area, with its vast array of bars and clubs, to the posh bars of the Polanco, Condesa and Roma neighborhoods, there is a little something for everyone in this bustling metropolis of over 20 million residents. The majority of clubs don’t really get going until after midnight and stay open until the wee hours of the morning. If you are travelling through Mexico looking for a party, a definite stop is Mexico City.

Cancun

Finally, we’ll head to the eastern most point of Mexico. Located on the Yucatán Peninsula, on the sandy shores of the Caribbean Sea is everyone’s favourite Mexican resort destination, Cancun. This manmade resort offers more than just gorgeous tropical settings and luxury accommodations; it also has a huge reputation as a party town. Not unlike Cabo, the peak party season is during spring break, but the club scene is still very prevalent every other day of the year. Spend your days sipping fancy drinks by the pool or on the sandy beaches, and your nights dancing in the clubs until dawn. Cancun is a must attend party city for any party-goer looking to experience what Mexico has to offer.

As part of our ongoing mission to provide you with the best of the best, today we are going to focus on a specific European country and let you know what our picks are for the best party cities in France.

You may recall that awhile ago we developed a list of the Top 18 Party Cities In Europe, and even though France only made the list for one of its cities, this largest country in Western Europe has much more to offer.

Here at BarWhiz we are always about giving back to our community. So whether you agree or disagree with our choices for Best Party Cities In France, we would still like to hear from you. Give a review of one of these party cities on the city page, which can be found here and you will be entered into a draw for a chance to win something from us, say like your favorite drink.

So without further adieu, here are the BarWhiz picks for the Best Party Cities In France:

Marseille

With a history dating back over 2,600 years, Marseille is an amazing city to party in. Being the second largest city in France does help with the nightlife, but the Marseille owes much of its culture to the eclectic mix of its residents. With roots going back to North and West Africa, as well as Italy, there is a little of something for everyone in the way of nightlife in this city. Take a stroll down La Canebière and head into Vieux-Port for a great mix of clubs and bars where you can party the night away.

Bordeaux

Although Bordeaux may be known for being the wine capital of France, it still is quite the party town. Thanks to the high population of students in this city there is much more to do then sip delicious wine. Bordeaux also has a great nightlife. If you are looking for a great pub or bar to have a few drinks in and practice your French on the local talent, then head on over to the La Victoire. If dance clubs are more your thing check out the Quais, which is located near the train station. The majority of clubs in this area don’t have cover, but if you are intoxicated they won’t let you in, so try not to pre-game too much on that Bordeaux.

Le Havre

Right along the coast of the English Channel you will find the party city of Le Havre. This northwestern France town offers quite a diverse mix of both pubs and clubs that range in price from way too expensive to just right. Some of the best places to grab a drink are in the city centre, the Quartier St-François, and of course the beach.

Strasbourg

Situated across the Rhine River from Germany, Strasbourg offers the best of both French and German cultures. Combine a culture known for their beer making with one known for their wine and you have an instant party town. With a huge student population helping the city to keep its nightlife both fun and inexpensive, you won’t have too look to hard for the party that is right for you. Whether it’s sipping back some delicious beers or dancing the night away until the wee hours of the morning – with some clubs closing at 7am – Strasbourg is one French city where the party truly doesn’t stop.

St. Tropez

Last, but certainly not least is France’s ultimate party city, St. Tropez. Located along the French Riviera on the Mediterranean Sea, this ultimate party town has been the go to destination for the rich and famous for many years. Although partying in St. Tropez can be quite expensive, it is worth it for the experience, even if just for one night. Dress to impress, and if you are a guy make sure you have a girl on your arm or it’s likely you’ll be denied entrance to any of the clubs. But don’t fret, just because you don’t own a yacht it doesn’t mean you won’t be able to partake in much of what the city has to offer – likely you’ll just not be able to rub elbows with the glitterati.

About the Author
Corey Rozon is a freelance writer from Ottawa, Canada.
